A Super Comically Rocking Week

Hello everyone and welcome to February and supposedly one of the coldest months yet we may hit 50 today. I will state it again we bipolar patients have nothing against mother natures confusion. A reminder the registration for the spring semester has begun so if you have not registered do so promptly or else face having crappy classes. Another reminder that if you have not filed your taxes do so quickly in order to be able to fill out your FAFSA form for the 2009-2010 school year. This upcoming midterm week has nothing on the week i just had so we will have a short recap of the first week of February.

It started actually with the end of January when my niece Olivia was born last Friday at 7lbs and 20 inches in length. Then that night my coworker Josh Glantz proposed to his girlfriend of 2 years Jennifer Hacker, she said yes! So congratulations to my brother on the birth of his daughter and congrats to Josh & Jenn. Sunday as most of the country knew was Superbowl Sunday. The Pittsburgh Steelers won a nail biter in what was one of the most exciting 4th quarters in a Superbowl. It was a historic victory in which Pittsburgh won there 6th title as a franchise and that is the most in the NFL for a franchise.

Monday through Wednesday was pretty pedestrian and on Tuesday i had a small remembrance for my grandmother who would have been 86. Thursday was the best day this week as I went to a rock concert, not just any rock band but Slipknot. The concert had Slipknot headlining with New York's own Coheed and Cambria and Florida's Trivium. The first two bands did pretty well but Slipknot as they should practically demolished the show. 98% of Madison Square Garden stood for their hour and a half set that included the only display of pyrotechnics in the whole show. They played all the favorites blister, people=s**t, duality, dead memories, psychosocial and many, many more. They had 2 percussion kits and a drum set and each one did something different. One percussion kits went up on hydraulics and spun around in circles. The other percussion kit bucked around like a percussionist stuck on a bull. The ultimate thing was the drum kit which was on this hydraulic base and what it did was raise the kit up and turned it so that the kit and the drummer were horizontal to the floor. The sick part of it all is the drummer kept playing the whole time this was going on. Its a good thing they did it at the end or else i would have left because that was one of the most awesome sights of the whole concert. Anyone that could not be at the concert i am telling you that when they come back to NYC you should do whatever to see them. I would like to hear from any other Berkeley students that might have gone so post replies.

Yesterday i had scheduled the day off to recover and it just so happened that the New York Comic Convention is this weekend. So i decided to go and support my friend Abede Lovelace and his comic City of Walls. If you want to learn more about it check out www.cityofwalls.com. If you have not been to the Comic Con and you love comics of video games this is the event for you. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Rockstar Games, EA and Square Enix are just some of the exhibitors there at the Con. Tons of comic books every where, and lots of people in costume. I saw Chewbacca, Batman, Hellboy, powerpuff girls and many many more. It was completely insane. If you can get there today or tomorrow i would strongly suggest you do. I do plan a repeat visit next year. That was basically my week in review and it was one of the most fun and awesome weeks in a very long time.

Now it is time for the Rebecca and Jose corner. Jose continues to grow and we believe he is teething again but no new teeth yet. I feel sorry for him and i just wish that the teeth would come already to end his suffering. Rebecca continues to amaze and grow and astound everyone. She learned a few new phrases like funny boy, i can do it and i know. She also is trying to teach her brother sign language. Yes ladies and gentlemen a 2 year old is teaching basic sign language to my son. She was helping feed him and when she asked more Jose she also signed the sign for more. She continues to be a big sister to her brother and a continual helper for mommy and daddy. Wait until the next blog when i tell you guys what else she has done. Well hope everyone has a great weekend and i will see you in the future.
